What Is Container Loading Supervision?
Container loading supervision (CLS) in Turkey is the final safeguard in your quality control chain. Even after a successful pre-shipment inspection, things can still go wrong between approval and departure: the wrong cartons can be loaded, quantities can fall short, goods can be damaged by careless handling, or an unsuitable container can expose your products to moisture during transit. CLS puts an independent inspector at the factory or port on loading day so that the goods you approved are the goods that actually ship.
What Our Inspector Checks on Loading Day
1. Container condition
Before loading begins, the empty container is examined inside and out: holes and light leakage, dents, rust, damaged door seals, residual odours, humidity and cleanliness. A defective container is rejected before a single carton goes in.
2. Quantity and identity of the goods
Cartons are counted as they are loaded and reconciled against the packing list and your purchase order. Shipping marks, carton numbers and product references are checked so that substitution or short shipment is caught on the spot, not at the destination port.
3. Loading practice
The inspector monitors handling and stacking: weight distribution, protection of fragile items, use of dunnage and securing materials. Poor loading is one of the most common causes of transit damage from Turkish ports.
4. Sealing and documentation
Once loading is complete, the inspector witnesses the closing of the doors, records the container number and seal number, and photographs every stage. The same day, you receive a report with full photographic evidence, so your bank, insurer or customs broker has independent documentation of what left Turkey.
When Should You Book CLS?
Container loading supervision is most valuable for high-value cargo, first shipments from a new supplier, mixed or consolidated loads, and any order where a previous shipment arrived short or damaged. Many importers combine CLS with a pre-shipment inspection in Turkey for complete coverage: the PSI confirms quality before shipment, and the CLS confirms that the approved goods were loaded correctly.
