Overview

What is a pre-shipment inspection in Turkey?

A Turkey pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is an on-site quality check performed at your supplier's factory or warehouse once at least 80% of your order has been produced and packed — and always before the goods leave Turkey. Our inspector verifies that what you ordered is what will actually be shipped: correct quantities, agreed specifications, acceptable workmanship, functional performance, safe packaging and accurate labelling.

Turkey is one of the world's leading sourcing destinations for textiles, furniture, machinery, construction materials, home textiles, food products and automotive parts. Yet distance makes it impossible for most importers to visit every factory. An independent pre shipment inspection in Turkey gives you eyes on the ground — documented photographic evidence and a clear pass/fail decision — so you can release payment and book shipment with confidence.

What Does a Pre-Shipment Inspection in Turkey Actually Cover?

Importers often ask what happens during a Turkey pre shipment inspection. While every product category has its own checkpoints, a professional PSI in Turkey follows a consistent framework built on the international AQL sampling standard ISO 2859-1.

1. Quantity verification

The inspector counts finished and packed cartons against your purchase order and packing list. Inspections are performed only when at least 80% of the order is produced and packed — inspecting earlier makes the sampling statistically meaningless and leaves room for substitution after the visit.

2. Random sampling to AQL

Cartons are selected at random from different pallets and production batches. From those cartons, a sample size defined by ISO 2859-1 is drawn. For most consumer goods the accepted limits are AQL 0 for critical defects, 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects — though buyers can set stricter limits for premium products.

3. Workmanship, function, packaging and marking

Each sampled unit is checked for visual defects and functional performance. Export cartons are checked for drop-resistance, correct barcodes, shipping marks, country-of-origin labelling ("Made in Türkiye") and destination-market compliance labels. Carton weights and dimensions are confirmed for freight calculations.

4. The report and your decision

Within 24–48 hours you receive a structured report with dozens of photographs and a clear result: passed, failed or pending. A failed inspection is not a disaster — it is leverage. With documented evidence in hand, importers negotiate rework, replacement or discounts before the goods ship, instead of fighting claims after arrival.

How to Choose a Pre-Shipment Inspection Company in Turkey

Searching for "Turkey pre-shipment inspection" returns global giants and local providers alike. Here is what experienced importers look for when selecting an inspection partner in Turkey.

Independence comes first

Your inspection partner must have no commercial relationship with your supplier. A genuine third-party inspector is paid only by the buyer and reports only to the buyer.

Local presence beats fly-in inspectors

Turkey's manufacturing is spread across Anatolia: textiles in Denizli and Bursa, furniture in Kayseri and İnegöl, machinery in Konya, food in Gaziantep and the Aegean. A company with inspectors already based in these regions responds faster and does not pass expensive travel days on to you.

Speed and clarity of reporting

The industry benchmark is a full report within 48 hours of the visit — in clear English, photo-rich, ending with an unambiguous pass/fail conclusion, not vague observations.

Transparent pricing

Reputable providers quote per man-day, all-inclusive. Be cautious of low headline rates that later add mileage, accommodation and "report preparation" fees. A single missed defect costs far more than the difference between quotes.
